Cora Lewis is a whole lot of fun, and she knows how to keep her tattooed bad boy friends in line. But all that flash and sass hide the fact that she’s never gotten over the way her first love broke her heart. Now she has a plan to make sure that never happens again: She’s only going to fall in love with someone perfect.
Rome Archer is as far from perfect as a man can be. He’s stubborn and rigid, he’s bossy and has come back from his final tour of duty fundamentally broken. Rome’s used to filling a role: big brother, doting son, super soldier; and now none of these fit anymore. Now he’s just a man trying to figure out what to do with the rest of his life while keeping the demons of war and loss at bay. He would have been glad to suffer it alone, until Cora comes sweeping into his life and becomes the only color on his bleak horizon.
Perfect isn’t in the cards for these two, but imperfect might just last forever…
Normally I start my review with a brief synopsis of the book, but I am afraid with this one if I tell you anything about the book aside from what is in the official synopsis I will ruin it for it. So let me see what I can actually say about it before I tell you why I loved it so much…
Cora has been the rock for the guys in the office for a long time. She is the strength that holds them together and stands by them, completing the family of friends they will always have. Her past was scarred by an ex-fiancé who broke her heart and moved right on, of course, he moved on prior to breaking her heart. She was going to hold out and wait for Mr. Perfect to walk into the picture and refused to settle for less than exactly what she wanted.
Rome is the oldest of the Archer boys and is now back from his final tour overseas. Rome was the responsible on that the twins looked up to. Each brother had their own role in the family. Remy was the good boy, Rule was the wild child and Rome was the protector. But when the protector is the one who is struggling, he doesn’t have anyone to protect any longer and is having a hard time finding his way in the world. What does he do now that his family doesn’t need protection and he isn’t defending his country?
These two are the most unlikely of a couple, but together they are the most perfectly imperfect couple ever. They melted me and broke my heart. They were hot and cold and no matter what happened; Cora was going to be there for Rome. But would she be able to give him the one thing he needs more than anything else in this world…love?
Jay Crownover does it again with Rome and I was once again completely blown away by the third book in this series. Rome was broken, but so was Cora and only in a Jay Crownover book can two people be so broken but complete each other all the same. I love the twists and turns and the ups and downs. It kept my attention from the first page and I couldn’t get enough of these two and once again I find myself swooning over yet another amazing man. I want more of these amazing characters and their stories.

I’m supposed to share interesting details about myself so that my readers get to know me so here we go in no particular order: I’m an natural redhead even though I haven’t seen my real hair color in years, I’m a big fan of tattoos and have a half sleeve on either arm and various other pieces all over the place, I’ve been in the bar industry since I was in college and it has always offered interesting insight into how men and women interact with each other, I have 3 dogs that are all crazy, I live in Colorado and love the snow, I love music and in all reality wish I could be a rock star not a writer or a bartender but I have zero talent so there is that.
I love to write, love to read and all I’m interested in is a good story with interesting characters that make the reader feel something.
