STEPHANIE: ★★★★

I am not sure what I was getting into when I picked up this book. But I really enjoyed it. This is a paranormal story which for me, means it is going to take a little longer to get through and digest. But it is not to say that I am not going to like it. I just tend to stay in the rhelm of the current world and not venture to things that are out of the norm. With that said, there are a few paranormal books that I have truly enjoyed tremendously. They just typically take a bit longer for me to digest. But I did like this book a lot.

Autumn is a Sage. She is at her school to protect the humans from the evil ways of the Extermino. Most of whom don’t like her or trust her. But it seems for the most part, the feeling is mutual. But on her first day of the new school year, something happens. She turns around and he is there. Prince Fallon is now going to be attending the same school. But there’s so much more to Fallon and Autumn doesn’t like it. First, everyone around seems to be swooning over him and she knows that he is keeping a big secret from her about the death of her grandmother. The more Autumn and Fallon are around each other, the more they grown to need one another. But this story isn’t just about these two.

I loved the self-discovery journey that Autumn is forced to take in this book. She has to learn her place in the society and she has to make a really big commitment to them all and she has to do all of this and deal with the depression she is stuck in after the loss of her grandmother. Autumn has a new place and a new path she must follow. But her lack of respect for authority leaves a bit to be desired for me and I found that her character tended to get on my nerves a bit because of her attitude, I had to continuously remind myself that she is a teenager, regardless of her status or the dimension that she lives in. To top it all off she has to figure out why she is having visions of Violet and what she needs to do with the visions. This adds a complete other dimension to her character.

This book was really good, but nothing what I was expecting. I really did enjoy it. The writing is remarkable and Abigail Gibbs really paints a picture so you can see exactly what is going on. At times I got lost in the imagry of the people and places that I had to re-read what was going on in the scene. But it was remarkable. Abigail Gibbs does a great job with descriptions and though at times I was confused with characters and levels and situations, I didn’t want to put it down. The writing is amazing and if you like paranormal, this series is one to read!
