Review: Beautiful Ink by Nicole Reed

Beautiful Ink Banner - Available Now

This novel is not a cliffhanger and can be read as a stand-alone.

WARNING: This book is real, beautifully raw, and not for the faint of heart. It is the story of a young girl’s loss of innocence while growing up around a motorcycle club. It is not suitable for children under the age of seventeen due to language, sexual content, and intense subject matter. Based on true events.

I have tattooed that single word on more skin than I care to count. It elicits powerful thoughts and emotions for most people.

Loving. Caring.

Supportive. Togetherness.

But not for me. The word family means so much more.

Vicious. Harmful.

Dangerous. Corrupt.

You can’t run forever from the ones who love you.

I know I read a lot of books but if I were to stop reading tomorrow, I would be so extremely thankful that this book found its way into my hands before the reading ended. This book could possibly be one of the best books that I have read this year and ever. I was completely blown away. Nicole Reed took this book to into a blackened darkness and somehow still found the light. This book pushes everything you think and everything you believe about the power of love. Raw, dangerous, filled with passion and hope, this book was everything that just got to me deep inside.

Nicole Reed took me on this crazy ride that I am not soon to forget. I think I am seriously having one of those, “I really don’t know what to say” moments because this book was just THAT book!

Helen was born into a crazy world. She was born into something she had absolutely no control over. She was born into a world of danger, secrecy, pain, hurt and family. But it was a family she was destined to never escape. It was against the rules of the family. She lived in this world for so long in fear. She was afraid of her life, she was afraid of the people that surrounded her. She wanted out. But this life is one she will never be freed from.

Her saving grace growing up was Holden. He was her best friend and protector. He would do anything thing for this beautiful girl. He would take care of her and protect her and give her everything. He would do anything for her. She loved that about him. But more so, he had one thing that most people didn’t have, that additional connection… he was born into the same group. He was destined to become the leader of this group. It was his chosen path in life and he knew what was expected and needed from him.

But at what cost? He loved Helen with everything he had, but he always knew that she was destined for something else. She was bigger than the town they lived in. She needed to be free from the chosen path she was given. And when he gave her the opportunity, she took it.

Keller never stayed in the same place for too long. She didn’t form attachments and she did what she could live where she wanted but not for too long. If her past caught up with her it would all end and she could end up gone.

Vin wanders into the town where Keller is living and making a living as a tattoo artist, and she is amazing at it. He is only going to be there for a short time, but something happens when these two meet. Something sparks. Something changes. Keller sees the opportunity to start her life on her terms and build a steady future, but she really only sees it in Vin’s eyes. He has sparked so much in her and she feels something deep inside stir.

But the past has a horrible way of catching up with us. And this book just makes that perfectly clear and in no uncertain terms. If you don’t follow the rules, you will suffer the consequences.

The world shatters around these four characters, completely. But will love be enough for either of these couples? Will Helen’s “family” cost her everything she loves including her self or will Holden be the one to save her from her fate? Can Keller really find happiness and love with a guy she can never be completely honest with?

This book was stunning. Absolute perfection. It took me into an entirely new dimension and kept me on the edge of my seat through the entire book. It was more than just a great book, it is a harsh look into a dark and crazy world relying strictly on your hopes for the characters. It moved me, touched my heart, shattered it and gave me a glimpse of hope. It stole my breath and made me cringe. It was loving and tender and it was fabulous. I am still sitting here hours after finishing it wondering what I can tell you about it except to go read it… it was an amazing and crazy ride and it was 100% the read.
