Review: Renegade Lady (Renegade Sons MC #1) by Dawn Martens & Emily Minton

Jenna “Ice” Chandler grew up as part of a motorcycle club. She considered it her home, until one wrong move made it her prison. After months of abuse, she is rescued by Chipper, who takes her to Big Clifty, Missouri, home of the Renegade Sons MC.

Kiddrick “Kidd” Jones is the president of the Renegades. He knows there is something special about Ice the moment his older brother, Chipper, brings her into the club, but stays away, because she is too young.

When time comes for Ice to take her place in the club, she has two choices, become an old lady or a club whore. Not believing in love and knowing a man can never be faithful, she decides to earn her spot on her back.

With each passing year, Kidd’s feelings for Ice grows and the urge to make her his becomes stronger. Frustrated and jealous, he finally decides it’s time to make her his.

Will Ice finally thaw out and give love a chance, or is Kidd fighting a losing battle?

This book caught my attention in the first few pages and I really needed to know that Jenna was going to be okay despite all of the hell she had been through. This book caught my attention and didn’t let it go. It was more than I was expecting. It was shocking, gritty, dangerous and even with all that, there was something touching about this story that just made sense deep inside its pages.

Jenna was sixteen. She was a child. But the pain and torture had begun long before that. She had no choice. It is the life she was born into. And though she didn’t understand it, it was the life that she was given to live. Wanting nothing more than to be out of it she was tied to these people, these monsters and there was little she could do about it. But after all of the abuse she lived through she was finally being rescued but the fear would always live inside of her in one way or another.

Chipper rescued her and he and his wife took her in and made her their own. This was his girl and he would do anything to look after and protect her. No matter what. But what Jenna gains in her new life is a new friend, a new family and a new start. But would her new friend look at her the same way as she has been looking at him? She is young and rightfully too young to claim but there is something about her that Kidd can’t resist.

Even removing himself from the situation for a year, she has always been on his mind, in his heart. There was a connection between the two of them that nothing could take the place of. But she was too young. He knew they couldn’t be together until she was at least 18. So Kidd did everything in his power to avoid her, including staying away for all of those months. But upon his return, he discovers a beautiful woman standing in front of him. She is no longer that young child that he doted on.

And when the moment finally comes for him to claim her, he willingly does. But unfinished business may become the demise of what the two of them could be. They could be great together, they could be perfect together, but will they be together? She is still hiding secrets from her past from him. She is still blocking out a big part of who she is. But he is not a saint either. He knows first and foremost, his job is what he must do. And part of that job is taking care of his past even if he wants to do nothing more than to protect her future.

This book was one wild ride. And for someone who doesn’t really subscribe to the fact that motorcyle riders are hot this book caught me a little off guard. I wasn’t expecting to love these guys as much as Jenna did. I wasn’t expecting to find a sweet story tangled in this dangerous world. But that is exactly what happened. I struggled when Jenna and Kidd weren’t together. I was angry when Sarah and her sister were around. I didn’t want the other guys near Jenna… I struggled through these emotions right along with the characters in this book.

I really enjoyed their story. It was dark, twisted and invited me into a world I have only read about a couple of times in books. It was dangerous and it was beautiful. No matter what these two characters did their ultimate fate was sealed for them the very first moment they met. Though this is not a book I would typically read, I found myself lost in the pages.

And it must be said Chipper’s words to his wife just broke my heart and filled it with so much love all at the same time. This was an amazing adventure and I cannot wait to dive into the pages of the next installement of the series!
