Release Date: May 13th, 2014
Daisy “Little Flower” Anderson has lived her entire life on the sidelines of the Renegade Sons MC. Her father is a member, and her mother a club whore turned old lady. Not wanting to follow their footsteps, she chose a different path; one that keeps her close to the biker family she loves, but out of the club. Struggling to keep it together, she never thought she would have anything of her own, until she met Preach. He is everything she swore she didn’t want in life. One night of passion leads to unexpected consequences, and she knows, now more than ever, it’s time to move forward. Garrett “Preach” Austin lived his life caught in his father’s iron fist. He never thought he would want anything more than freedom from his past, until he met his “Little Flower”. She shows him there is more to life than pain. Preach has a secret; one that forces him to choose between Daisy and his brothers. Even though he loves Daisy, the Renegade Sons are the only true family he has. He knows he can’t have her, yet he can’t let her go. When Daisy moves on, Preach realizes what he’s lost. Can he prove that he’s the man for her, or is he too late?
Preach “Can you do me a favor, brother?” Timber lifts his chin. “What’cha need?” Lifting a nearly empty bottle of beer, Maker motions for the prospect to bring him another. “I was supposed to pick up Little Flower, but I’m too drunk to have her on my bike. Can you run down to the diner and take her home?” “If you knew you had to pick up your daughter, why the hell have you been drinking?” He shrugs. “I didn’t mean to get drunk, but it just happened.” “If you for once put the beer down, it wouldn’t just happen,” Timber mumbles under his breath before looking toward me. “You wanna take a ride?” Nodding, I stand up and follow him outside. “I didn’t know Maker had a kid.” “He’s got a daughter, and she’s probably the prettiest little thing you’ve ever seen. His bitch of a wife keeps her away from the club, so she’s not around much. ” “Lula’s always here. Why doesn’t she let the girl come around?” He slides onto his bike before answering me. “Lula likes to be the center of attention. When her daughter’s around, she’s nothing but a shadow.” I climb onto my bike, wondering what is so special about this kid.
This book was an unexpected surprise for me. As you know I read the first book in this series the night before and I, still having a hard time adjusting to the motorcycle club kind of life, was still reserved on how I felt about MC books. But Emily Minton and Dawn Martens certainly took any apprehension that I had and tossed it aside and wrote a book full of love, pain, steam and commitment.
Daisy is a daughter and a granddaughter born into the club. Her mother is a bitch, yes, I am calling a spade a spade and this is actually a bit of an understatement. But Daisy is well loved and adored by the boys in the club as well as Jenna. But so much has happened in her life and she has been excluded from the club for several years because of her mother. But she still has a best friend on the inside and she is for the most part, happy. Her grandparents are amazing members of this club and they would do anything for Daisy.
But just a few months before she turns 18, her life is changed forever. She meets Preach for the first time and what Little Flower doesn’t know is that is the moment that will change everything in her life. That is the moment that will forever shape her future and everything she knows, wants and needs to protect herself from.
Preach has been with the club for two years and still does not have his cut. But he is devoted and loyal to the boys in the club and one day he knows that he will be a full fledged member. They have been his family for a long time now and he wants nothing more than for it to become permanent. The other thing we have to know about Preach is that he has a very sad past. He is not the perfect guy, he did his time. But the reason for it is what all great men are made of. He did it all for the love of family. It has forever shaped who he is.
Again, that one pivotal moment in his life happens the first time he sees Little Flower. He knows that she is going to be the one for him for life. He will be a member and she will be his old lady. Oh… if only things in this motorcycle club could be so perfect.
These two have been hurt by the ones that are supposed to love them the most, including each other. They torture and torment their hearts and finding clarity often comes at the expense of more pain. These two just can’t get it right but are so incredibly perfect for one another. But she is going to have to learn to forgive and he is going to have to change his ways or they will continue on the downward spiral.
Again, I was quite surprised at how much I loved this book. I never thought I would like motorcycle club kind of books, bikers are not really my thing. But there is something about this series that just makes it so much more than just a book about a biker club. There is nothing more important to family in my life and it may be the only thing I have in common with any of the characters in the book but they have it and they have a big family. That is the touching part. Family is not always happy and family doesn’t always get along, but at the end of the day, they always have one another to count on and rely on. It may be a strange connection to make with a book, but it is really what caught me and kept me reading.
Emily Minton and Dawn Matens take these characters through hell and back and then when you think things are finally going to work out, they hit us all over again. It was a very addictive kind of book because ultimately, I had no idea what to expect on the next page but I had to find out! This is a great read and highly recommended!
