Guest Review by Janie Alexander: Beauty From Love (Beauty #3) by Georgia Cates

beauty from love

Howdy, my name is Janie Alexander, I’m an avid reader and enjoy reading during my leisure time. Which at the current moment isn’t much because my husband and I just welcomed a wonderful baby boy into our lives 4 months ago. I love anything having to do with History and happen by chance to have stumbled across The Boyfriend Bookmark blog via Facebook.

If you haven’t noticed I am from the wonderful state of Texas, and no there aren’t very many cowboys left but there is a whole lot of ranch land and cattle where I live. Being able to have blogs like The Boyfriend Bookmark allows all of us to find good reviews about books. Sometimes the indie authors are not always carried at the big name brand bookstore shelves rather sometimes they can only be found via eBook on their websites. We as a community of readers rely on one another to help recommend books and get these authors out there because let’s be honest we all know that most of these authors at some point in time needed someone to believe in their writing, that’s why we have ARC readers. Without reviews I know I wouldn’t pick up half of the books that I’ve read.

So I am just a simple girl who likes to spend her time reading and enjoys reading a review from other people. So with that being said Stephanie has graciously allowed me to be a guest reviewer on the blog here I go I’ve never done a review for a blog and I am not an English teacher anymore so I might not be able to get this done without any grammatical errors, but please know that it’s not the grammar I want you to analyze rather the review and just hopefully I will be able to persuade you to pick up and read this final book in a wonderful series or if I am even lucky I can get you to pick up the series by this great author.

The epic romance between an all-American beauty and her Aussie continues in this final installment of The Beauty Series.

Jack McLachlan is fulfilled by more than he dared to dream possible. He finds everything he never knew he wanted—or needed—in Laurelyn Prescott, his last and final companion. Life is beautiful with his beloved by his side but their post-wedded bliss is cut short when his dark past springs into their present happiness. He wants to shelter Laurelyn but keeping her untainted by his previous life proves impossible when yesterday’s sins insist on returning to haunt him. Will it be possible for them to find happiness in their forever with a past like his?

Beauty From Love is an adult contemporary novel and is not intended for younger readers due to mature content.

If you have not read any of the Beauty Series books please do not read this review, although it will not contain any spoiler’s for the book it does give away what happens in the third installment of the series so please do yourself a justice by picking up Beauty from Pain series by Georgia Cates.

Our final installment opens to our two main characters Jack Henry and Laurelyn enjoying the start of their honeymoon. As always Jack Henry is full of surprises and as the summary above states it’s not necessarily always a good thing. I enjoyed reading this book because I felt that it was a wonderful ending to the beauty series. Georgia Cates wrote a wonderful piece of fiction. The book constantly kept me on my toes just when I thought nothing else would happen, Georgia Cates sneaks in another twist and turn. I enjoyed the fact that a lot of the side characters were brought into this final installment and it gives the reader a sense of fulfillment because you were able to read what happened to not only the main characters, but the other characters you feel in love with as you read the other books in the series like Laurelyn’s best friend Addison or her brother Ben Donavon, once competition to our main character Jack Henry and let’s not forget Maggie James, our stand out mom in the series.

Although the book is the final in the series, I felt that a lot of the unanswered what if’s from the previous books in the series were answered. Georgia Cates brings closer to the series unlike some authors who close a series and still leave the reader with an open ended novel. Often times those are the hardest to deal with in retrospect but Mrs. Cates thankfully does no such thing to the reader. I know that I fell in love with this series from the very first book. Even though as a reader I thought “oh great same storyline here we go again, mysterious dominant man meets meek young female” and well you can fill in the rest we’ve seen the plot plenty of times but, what Mrs. Cates does here is very different often times we only get the happy ever after for the day of the wedding but here we get to see if it’s really a true fairy tale ending.

When reading this book I felt that the typical idea of the dominant man often times was still seen even though as seen in the other novels in the series we have an evolution of Jack Henry throughout the series but none so much as we do in the last installment. I would personally give this novel 5 stars and would highly recommend not just the last novel in the installment but the whole series in general.

Georgia resides in rural Mississippi with her wonderful husband, Jeff, and their two beautiful daughters. She spent fourteen years as a labor and delivery nurse before she decided to pursue her dream of becoming an author and hasn’t looked back yet.

When she’s not writing, she’s thinking about writing. When she’s being domestic, she’s listening to her iPod and visualizing scenes for her current work in progress. Every story coming from her always has a song to inspire it.
