What is it about a junior-high crush that can send an otherwise intelligent woman into a tailspin? TV reporter Char Lynn wishes she knew. Jake Titus is too rich, too handsome, too arrogant: a trifecta that once lured Char into the best night-and worst morning-after-of her life. Now they’ve been thrown together in a wedding party. It’s awkward, but survivable . . . until Jake stops acting like a jerk, and starts acting like the man she’d always hoped he could be.If watching your brother marry your best friend is weird, being attracted to your best friend’s otherbest friend is downright bizarre. Unfortunately for Jake, Char hasn’t forgotten how he once tossed her aside. Worse still, Jake’s already-nutty grandma is even crazier about Char. Cue meet-cute shenanigans and all manner of meddling, and somehow, Jake’s falling. For Char. Now all he has to do is make her believe it . . .
A functional family is completely full of dysfunction in this witty book and it all began with a bet, a bad plane ride and a hot stud of a man that will be ruined before this wedding is over, especially if his grandma has anything to say about it.
This book was so full of life and spunk. I just couldn’t get enough. It was steamy too, but it was all the humor. What is it they say about a woman scorned? Well, this one has nothing on grandma… and Jake better figure things in his life out fast…
Char had a thing for Jake Titus when she was growing up. But the first time he hurt her was because it was gawking over another girl. The second time, he left her a thank you note. She will not go through that again. It’s her best friend’s wedding and she is going to do everything she can to make the event wonderful. Even if that means the groom’s grandma forces Jake down her throat again. Forcing them to spend time together may be the death of her but she will not fall for his charm again. He is a man whore and she will not succumb to him again. Well, not if she has anything to say about it.
Jake has been handed everything in life. The cool cars, the great job… women… he has never had to care. He has money and a great job. But his grandma wants him to appreciate all of those things and finally realize that he needs to settle down and stop being the spoiled rich kid that he acts every part of. Oh… and grandma has a plan…
But on this crazy adventure that grandma puts in place, something crazy happens… Jake begins to see his ways and the things in life he can’t seem to live without, or the person in life he can’t live without. Only problem with all of that is that she hates him. She is not going to let him back into her life so easily. But one crazy adventure after another, Jake and Char are pushed together time after time.
I loved Grandma! She was a riot. She was not a typical grandma doting over her amazing grandchildren. She was taking an active role in their lives. And by active, I mean she is keeping the bride and groom from consummating their marriage before it happens, she is setting Jake on the right path… she does it because she loves them but put a whistle in that woman’s hands and all bets are off. This book was a fun adventure in romance. It wasn’t the typical angst. Most of the drama was created by Grandma.
It kept a quick pace and just made me smile time and time again. Yes, there was every bit of sentimental in it as there should be, but Grandma was just too awesome for her own good. I thought Jake was a jerk through more than half of the book, but I also saw his charming side and the reason that Char had originally fallen for him. But he did find his way into my heart and found a way to redeem himself. But mostly because he was complete oblivious to what went wrong the very first time.
This book was fun, flirty and the sexual tension between Char and Jake was just hot. This was a great book and a fun five star read!
