Is love in the cards?
Since birth, Lexie Berry has had nothing but bad luck. Orphaned at an early age, she had a rough childhood and a boyfriend who was murdered. Now the beautiful, stylish Lexie is determined to change her luck and her life. But first she’s got to make good on a promise: to pick up Ty Walker from prison. One look at the gorgeous ex-convict and Lexie knows she’s in trouble-and already thinking about taking a walk on the wild side…  For five years, Ty was imprisoned for a crime he didn’t commit. Now he wants revenge on the people who framed him. Yet when the high-stakes poker player sees the leggy Lexie, he suddenly has other desires on his mind. Realizing that Ty is innocent, Lexie tries to stop his plan for vengeance and help him become a better man. But as Ty battles his inner demons, dirty cops and criminals plot to take him out. Can he and Lexie find a way to escape the past?

Stephanie: ★★★★★

Like things could really get any stranger in a town called Carnal… Lexie and Ty are just another one of those things and you know stranger things have happened…
Lexie is doing her deceased boyfriend’s brother a solid. She needs to get out from under his thumb but it’s safer this way to help when he asks. He doesn’t ask for more than he knows she is willing to give, but how much is she willing to sacrifice for this guy? Apparently a lot more than I would have expected.
She is told to pick someone up from the state penitentiary. This is all she really knows. Ty Walker is going to be release. She is to pick him up and he will give her the rest of her instructions. How much trouble could this possibly cause? Well ending up in Vegas and getting married certainly is just the tip of the ice berg. The pages just explode in this book!
Getting married in Vegas is the easiest thing that happens in this book. It is an opportunity that Lexie can’t pass up and one Ty is committed to following through on. But the events that happen after that are just crazy. Lexie suddenly finds herself in a new town, in a new state, starting her life with pretty much a complete stranger and a convict. But for Ty this new relationship is only part of the plan. He is determined to clear his name from a crime he didn’t commit, but part of this is taking down the town’s least trusted police department. But not everyone in the police department are going to be an issue.
Can Ty and Lexie actually form a relationship worth hanging on to while Ty works to clear his name? Can they really have a relationship with all of the other things hanging over their heads? Corrupted cops, shady characters, even shadier situations make this story and edge of your seat read.
Now the downside to this book for me was the length. I couldn’t just sit and devour this one in one night. So that made it a little more difficult of a read for me, but it also means that between my job and my family, it absolutely consumed it. I just wanted to keep reading because I wanted to know what was going to happen next. That makes a full time job difficult, but it made this book worth each an every moment!
Kristen Ashley takes two more people into the heart of Carnal, Colorado and twists in intrigue and mystery and of course a completely new situation filled with suspense and drama. She mixes in the hot romance and it makes this book very hard to put down! It is well written and definitely kept me on my toes.

Kristen AshleyAbout Kristen Ashley

Kristen Ashley grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana, and has lived in Denver, Colorado, and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write. Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multigenerational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland, and Kristen grew up listening to the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon, and Whitesnake. Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music and love was a good way to grow up.  And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.
