Arianna ‘Ari’ Williams thought she experienced the depths of true love until the man of her dreams dismissed her with no explanation. Heartbroken and humiliated, she found herself changing the course of her life and picking up the pieces of her shattered heart. Now four years later, she has a successful career, amazing friends, and a young son with crystal blue eyes that reminds her every day of the love she imagined. Emotionally she has moved on but the wounds never healed.
Reed Matthews has it all. Playing professional football was his always his dream. Being one of the most successful wide receivers in the league comes with money, fame, and all the women he wants. Even with all his wishes coming true, he never stops thinking of the one woman that owned his soul four years ago.
A chance encounter brings Reed to the realization that Ari Williams not only hid a life changing secret from him, but also things weren’t as they seemed all those years ago. He’s determined to get her back and build their lives together.
When the truth behind their deception is revealed- friendships are tested, families are torn apart, and the one person behind it all is relentless.
Ahren Sanders has just blown me away with her new release, Reed’s Reckoning! This story was fabulous to say the least. It will be added to my top reads this year for sure but maybe my top reads period. I loved this book. It has just enough angst, just enough drama, just enough steam and a whole bunch of love. I adored the writing and I adored the storyline.
Ari and her son have been living their lives for three years and have done just fine. She has worked hard as a single mother to get to where she is and she has always had a tremendous support system in her family and friends. When he ended thing with her, she was devastated. She was also already too invested to just walk away without feeling anything.
Reed could never forget her. She was the one that he should have done everything to fight for. She was his forever. She had his heart and even though he has been with many women since, he has never been in a relationship or held anyone close the way he did her. She was his everything. But she left him alone. The heart has never forgotten.
The heart needed a reminder. Ari and Davis were with Ari’s best friend at a weekend event on the beach. Davis ran down the pier to see someone fishing. But when Reed was approached by this little guy, his world was sent spinning. His smile was all Ari, but everything else… what happened all those years ago?
A few days later, Reed shows up at Ari’s doorstep. He wants answers. He wants to know why she walked away from them, their love, their relationship. She is shocked at first to see him standing in her doorway, but now that he is here she wants answers to her own set of questions. Why would he hurt her the way he did? Why would he give up on their love? Why did he end things?
WAIT WHAT? Uh Oh… why would this be happening? She didn’t break up with him, he didn’t break up with her and yet all these years later they are not together. He didn’t know there was a child involved. But Reed knows that he is never letting go again.
But can the two of them work out? Can they find the love that they once shared? Can he be the man she has always needed? Can she be the woman that he has only ever wanted? Can the two of them find their way back to what they had? Or with something end up tearing them apart again? And what happened the first time around? Who would do this to them and their love and why?
Ahren Sanders has done an amazing job with this book! I loved every minute of it. It had just the right amount of drama in it to keep it crazy but the love that she gave the characters was just moving and touching. This book was hot and full of passion. It was a beautifully told story of finding true love twice. And let me not even get started on the adorableness of Davis… he stole my heart from the very beginning.
The characters, the story, the book… Ahren has written an amazing story and it was so easy to get lost in the pages of this wonderful book. Not only do I highly recommend Reed’s Reckoning, I am anxious to read it again!
“Did you miss me, Arianna?”
I can’t talk so I nod against his neck. One hand glides down my leg and into the hem of my shorts. His finger grazes the edge of the silk of my underwear. He moves the silk to the side and rubs his fingers between my swollen lips. He teases me with his touch until I moan.
“Say it. Say you missed me and I’ll take care of you.”
Shaking my head, not giving him the satisfaction. He removes his fingers but uses his whole hand to cup my sex and squeezes. I cry out and then bury my mouth on his shoulder trying to smother the sounds I can’t stop from making. My body begs for the pleasure but my mind won’t give in.
“I feel you trembling. I know exactly what you need. All you have to do is say three little words. ‘I missed you’.”
I try to wiggle away, but his body and one arm has me pinned against the wall. I swivel my hips against his hand trying to get enough contact to relieve myself, but he twists his wrist and squeezes again. The need for release seeps all the way down to my toes. Then I think of something that may get to him.
“Reed?” I whisper.
“If you don’t want to take care of me, I’ve got a very talented BOB in my room that’ll do it. The thought of it actually excites me.”
His body stiffens and his eyes meet mine shining with desire.
“Not fucking happening.”
