Synopsis

New York Times Bestselling Author Carly Phillips turns up the heat in her newest sexy contemporary romance series, and introduces you to the Dare family… siblings shaped by a father’s secrets and betrayal.

Since finding out his father had another family on the side, Ian Dare swore to be the upstanding, responsible man his cheating parent had never been. When it comes to his relatives, he gives his all but in relationships he offers the bare minimum. But one glimpse of sensual Riley Taylor arouses his dominant and protective instincts and Ian is entranced. He will do anything to possess her … and does. But any future with Riley must include him extending an olive branch to the half-brother who is a constant reminder of the pain he’d rather forget.

Independent and always in control, Riley Taylor makes no apologies for choosing men carefully. Relationships have never been a priority and she believes herself hardened to domineering men – until she meets charismatic Ian Dare. He manages to turn a simple kiss into an all out assault on her senses and when he takes control in the bedroom, she’s stunned to discover she likes it. As their affair heats up, they soon realize they complete each other in ways neither imagined. But Riley’s past is closer than she cares to remember, and her struggles with Ian’s dominance might just cost her everything.

This is the first book by Carly Phillips that I have read and now I am wondering why that is. I LOVED this book. I loved the story and the characters and every little nuance of the drama.

Riley knows she is going to lose her job if she doesn’t do something drastic. So she takes a leap of faith on someone that she only met once and she knows that once her best friend finds out, there is going to be drama, but she takes the chance.

Ian Dare is a strong, confident man who needs little encouragement to take over any situation. He is domineering and he know what he wants. When the beautiful lady walks into that part that night on the arm of his half brother, he wants to call off all bets. She is what he wants and though he can’t explain it, there is something about her that he really needs. But the big problem is that she is on the arm of his half brother. That is never going to work out. On the arm of any other man, it wouldn’t have been an issue but the one who ended up with his dad… that is an issue.

Ian would have to learn to put the past be hind him and move on and form an actual relationship with his “other family.” But can he do it long enough to make things work with this amazing woman? There is a lot of family drama in this book and it all plays well into this new enticing relationship between Ian and Riley. When the two of them are together sparks fly and chemistry explodes. But there is so much going on in both of their worlds that you are constantly questioning whether te two of them can really be together.

Ian has to get past the pain he has carried for so long when it comes to the double life that his father led for so many years and Riley has to stop letting her father have so much control over her life, even when he is not part of it.

This book just captured me from the beginning. Ian stole my heart and it was hard to see how the rest of the siblings have dealt with the same past. It was full of angst, drama and sexual tension. But more than that it was filled with love and passion. It is a fabulous book and I cannot wait to read more of this series! Carly’s writing kept me captivated and anxious for more.
