I don’t believe in fairy tales.
I don’t believe in glass slippers.
I don’t believe in Prince-Freaking-Charming.
Cinderella can kiss my ass.
I kiss frogs, sometimes even toads.
I’ve given up on meeting Mr. Right, instead it seems all I meet is Mr. Wrong, Mr. Very-Wrong and even, Mr. Lets-Not-Even-Go-There.
Fairy tales are for morons.
Well, that’s what I thought until Gabriel Black barged through my life, turning everything upside down.
He’s hot, sexy and little rough around the edges.
But, he’s hiding something, something deep. I can feel it, taste it and smell it.
Now I’m left wondering if he’s my Prince Charming or my fairy tale villain.
Will I ride away safely into the night, dreaming of happily ever afters?
Or, will I stumble and fall in ridiculously high heels only meant for women with a death wish?
Once Upon A Time…
I met Gabriel Black.
When I was offered a copy of this book to read and review, I jumped on it instantly. Any book that says that fairy tales are for morons and that Cinderella can kiss it is definitely one I am going to want to read.
Payton didn’t believe in fairy tales, that ship sailed the moment she walked in on her once upon a time buried in another girl in college. There was no more believing in fairy tales, happy ever afters and all that other crap. Payton wanted to make a life for herself and get laid when needed. She didn’t expect anything out of men and therefore, could never be disappointed or hurt by them.
Payton is working hard to make her way in the world. She strives to be something more and have so much more than what she had growing up. She never complained about that, but she knew she wanted more. She didn’t have to wonder from paycheck to paycheck if the bills would all get paid. What she certainly didn’t expect was that a one night stand would turn into something so much bigger than anything she has ever had before.
Payton was out of a night with friends at a great club in town when a quick trip to the bathroom lead her into something she wasn’t expecting. And whew! She was not expecting him. But just in case the events of that one night weren’t odd enough, it’s about to get real and real quick when her boss finally sends her on an assignment. Her first one as something more than an assistant. She is finally getting her break.
But when she walks into that meeting, all bets are off, the guarantee and stability of a job, the hope of a future are all starting to blur… when she looks up after stumbling into the client’s office just to discover it is him.
But can “once upon a time” really happen more than once? She had that remember? Oh… bet your sweet ass, Mr. Black is going to try and convince her of that…
This book had me laughing and cringing and hoping. Payton is a smartass and has a great sense of humor and I just adored that. Mostly, because I could relate. Mr. Black… well… I wish I could relate to that… This book was a fabulously fun and flirty adventure that just kept going and going. I loved every moment of it and not only highly recommend it, but will be adding it to my must read again pile! It was THAT good!
