Now that I have completed my screaming and pacing, I can sit down and try to formulate a cohesive though regarding Meghan Quinn’s latest book, Fame. I’m gonna say it… this did not go the way I expected it to. This did not end how I expected it to. This was just not what I expected at all. I loved every moment until the very end.
We are joining Shatter Souls and Twisted Perfection in another powerful journey. Everything that you know has happened and everything you want to happen and everything you never expected to happen is exactly what is going to happen in this book.
Rook is reeling. Everything in his life has been shaken to the core. He gave up the one thing that meant something and he has hit rock bottom. When he gave up Maisy, he knew it was for her. In his heart he thought he was doing the right thing, but everything he was protecting her from came to a halt just five days later. He will never get her back and has given up on everything. Hiding out and barely eating, he can’t face another day. She was his world, his life, the air that he needed to continue. But he has lost it all and doesn’t see the point in going on. But he is not the only one struggling.
Maisy can’t write songs, her heart is consumed by despair. She is beyond broken. Rook destroyed everything they had and he destroyed her heart and her spirit along with it. Getting up each day and going through the motions, she knows she will never recover from the one man that was her everything.
Willow is struggling with her feelings towards Grey and how much he hurt her. But now that her beneficial relationship with Cruz is coming to an end, she doesn’t have anyone to turn to… enter the scene Declan… everyone warned her from him. He is trouble, he looks like trouble… but he did something for Willow that is a game changer. But Grey is always there, tormenting her and making her face realities she is not ready for. Because facing those realities is just too overwhelming.
Kaid wants to be the best friend to Willow and Maisy but is beginning to question if he is every going to have his own romance, the kind that these girls have had and can have again. So naturally when he feels an attraction to someone, she won’t date him. Poor guy can’t catch a break.
Then Grey and Landon are struggling to find common ground as brothers again. But it seems the only thing they seem to have in common is Quinn. Quinn was everything that was right in Grey’s life and there was love there, but it wasn’t the happily ever after kind of love and when they both realized it instead of talking it out between brothers before anything happened, Landon moves in, claims the woman that he loves and is going to get his happily ever after with the woman that he has always loved. But can things be repaired between him and his brother before everything completely falls apart?
This book… I wasn’t sure who I wanted to be mad at and when. It seems they all have their issues. Maisy isn’t ready to forgive, Rook is determined to fix what he broke. Grey and Landon are both hurting for and over Quinn. Willow is struggling with her own self worth and pain she is holding onto. Kaid wants to be everything to everyone and has no one to turn to when he needs comfort and Cruz… well he is finally finding someone that he wants to spend time with…
So much drama between two bands and it is all woven so tightly together… but my heart broke completely for Rook. I just wanted him and Maisy to find their way back to one another. With so much going on, he is trying with great desperation to make her understand why he did what he did without the ending becoming so final. He of course, comes up with a grand plan that is going to have everyone in both bands frustrated and angry. So many personalities confined… what could possibly go wrong? What will go right?
I can’t say too much more about this without revealing too much of the plots twists and turns but to say that Meghan Quinn left me completely speechless would be an understatement. Everything was coming together so perfectly and then BAM! Yup… not so perfect. Even though I was left speechless, I can honestly say it was worth every moment of angst and frustration.
Meghan Quinn has taken so many different people and points of view and melded them all together and no matter who you are rooting for, expect the unexpected. It will be worth the crazy train ride to the end.
Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She is known to bust out and dance if “It’s Raining Men” starts beating through the air and heaven forbid you get a margarita in her, protect your legs because they may be humped.
Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing… enter her first novel, Caught Looking.
Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Oh and she loves a good boob squeeze!
