His heart was turned off…

Until she turned him on…

Christopher Moore gave up on the idea of love years ago. Now, his life is an endless string of parties and an even longer string of girls. Enjoying the physical perks with none of the emotional mess, hes convinced everyone that hes satisfied—everyone but himself.

Samantha Schultz has moved on with her life. Finishing her student teaching and living with her boyfriend, shes deluded herself into believing shes content. But there is one boy she never forgot—her first love—and she keeps the memory of him locked up tight. She will never allow any man to break her the way Christopher did.

When Christopher’s sister and her family move into a new neighborhood, Christopher is completely unprepared to find Samantha living at the end of the street. Memories and unspent desires send them on collision course of sex, lies, and lust. But when guilt and fear send Samantha running, Christopher will have to fight for what has always been his.

This was a hard book for me to read. I can’t clearly identify as to why, but it started with a bubbling emotion deep inside that I just couldn’t shake. it wasn’t until later in the book that I knew for sure exactly why it was getting to me and making it hard for me to read. I absolutely loved the story, that wasn’t the issue, but from the beginning I just felt a connection to this book like no other.

I wanted Samantha to find her happily ever after, but I knew she could never do it with her current boyfriend standing in the way. But she felt a sense of obligation to him because he was there for her when she needed someone the most. Everything in her world turned upside down walking to the registers in Target and changed the course of her life.

A chance meeting in a store, turns not only Samantha’s world upside down, but it hits Christopher’s life just as hard. When two people still haven’t gotten over the hurt and anger from many years ago, it’s going to be a bigger heartache to deal with now. But can Samantha and Christopher get beyond the shadows that have been haunting them from their past or will this be a new nightmare waiting to happen?

This book just tugged on my heart a little harder than most. Though I wanted to throw things at the characters and tell them to pull their heads out on several occasions, I was truly moved by the connection and the bond the characters all shared. Not just Samantha and Christopher, but the brothers, the sisters and the parents. It’s a lot to take in but so worth every agonizing moment!

She lowered herself, gave a little shove, and slid down. I stopped her descent at the bottom, her back pressed into the metal. I grasped the sides, holding myself up, my nose an inch from hers as I hovered in her space. Her eyes were doing that wild thing again, a raging sea that churned with all that
shyness, but flamed with bold strikes of courage, a storm that didn
t know which way to turn.
Anyone ever kiss you before, Samantha?I murmured low, letting my nose do a little exploring along her jaw.
She shook her head no.
Didnt think so,I whispered, before I took a chance I was pretty damned sure was worth taking, and brushed my mouth against hers. And was I ever right. She tasted like sugar and all things sweet,
like a spoonful of pure honey. A remedy.
Her kiss was every kind of timid, cautious in her inexperience, but it didnt take a whole lot to convince me that this kind of kiss was my favorite.
