Beautiful Collision by Toni Vallan Review Tour

Release
Date: May 27th 2015

Eighteen year old Gray McAllister is on the run. Leaving her
dangerous past behind her is easier said than done, even when she finds herself at last able to forge a new life.
But then the planets align and Gray finds herself bumping into super-hot Thane Blackwell. Drooling over him from afar is safe but that’s only until she is forced to look after Thane while he recovers from surgery.
Being holed up in her apartment is a bad, bad idea. Can Gray control the fire that Thane seems to light inside her, or will she give in to her deepest desires. Can Thane achieve his goal without hurting Gray in the process?
The stakes are impossibly high, but love and lies don’t play nice with
each other. Will Gray’s past catch up with her first? Or will Thane’s
own secrets explode and tear them apart?

Review

For the love of everything that is good… this book is dangerous, scary and intriguing and also only part one. I have to tell you that I did enjoy this book, however, there was so much mystery and suspense, putting it down in the middle caused a bit of a problem for me. Simply because I couldn’t do it.
Gray has so much life ahead of her, but because of the actions of her brother, she will never have a normal life again. There is nothing she can do to prevent it. Used as a pawn when the money is gone, she has no where to run and no one to run to. She is trapped in a dark world full of bad people, bad things and there is no escape.
She is beautiful and smart and she wants to make it out. She wants so much from her life but living in constant fear is not the way to do it. She has finally found the opportunity and she is going to take it. But what she doesn’t know is she will constantly have someone watching over her and protecting her. Both possibly paying the ultimate price.
This book is one tangled web after another. It is hard to figure out who the good guy is, the bad guy and the worse guy. Who you wouldn’t mind cuddling with and who is out to get you.
I was kept on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t stop reading until the very last page. Now, with my ultimate dilemma… there is so much more to this story and I don’t want to wait for more.
This is the first time I have read anything from this author and though I admired the work and the writing, there were a couple of places that made me pause. The entire book takes place in California… and a few times I had to pause with words that were used to identify certain things. Though not a huge issue, indeed if Gray and Thane are both American, there are a few words I am not sure they would be using. My first reaction was that it was an author from another country because of these minor translation issues. It was not enough to bog down the story and make it hard to read or understand. I knew what the author was talking about but it did make me pause at the language used for a few minor items. This book is so heavy in details though they are easy to miss or just look over. They did not take away from the story or the plot in any way, they just made me pause.
This book is well written and very intricately woven with details. I could feel what the characters were going through, though I have never experienced any of the horror that Gray has (and I don’t ever want to), it was a clear picture of what was going on.
This book is decidedly darker than most books I read, but it didn’t slow me down or take away from my appreciate of it. It is powerful and strikes hard. Well written and completely suspenseful with a hint of love and light. I was drawn to the writing and the depth of the detail. A great read and highly recommended.
