BARNES & NOBLE Coming Soon!
I’m Sawyer James, best-selling indie author. There have been so many rumors going around about my model, Caleb Allen, and I that I can’t see straight. So, instead of sitting back on my hands like I’m told I need to do, let it blow over, and kill everyone with kindness, I’m going to do what I do best, I’m going to write a book about our relationship.
So here it is, our story. The real story.
Now if you have anything to talk about, you can shove it because this is the truth.
This is the story from behind the computer.
I straighten up and look at him; he’s come from the party. He has on a black suit with a crisp white shirt and ironically a green tie.
“We match.” I try to smile.
He wipes the tears away from under my eyes and holds my face in his hands. “I picked it to match your eyes. I was hoping you would be there.”
“I’ve missed you,” I admit feeling relieved he hasn’t completely given up on me.
“You have no idea how much I’ve missed you.” He wipes a few more stray tears. I laugh a little, and he smiles. “There’s that smile I love so much. I was watching you all day. You didn’t look at me once.”
“It was so hard.”
“That’s what she said.” He winks, and I let out a real laugh this time.
Do you ever wonder where those authors come up with their material? And do you ever wonder what would happen if that cover model helped provide that inspiration? What would happen if the model the author chose was really a character in a romance novel come to life?
F.L. Jacobs has taken all of those questions and put them in a book. This is a different perspective on the world of writing, this is an author’s story. How she found what she wanted was what she had been resisting the most.
Sawyer Bennett has lived behind her computer for so long. Her relationship is anything but easy. She works too much, he works too much… there never seems to be enough time for one another. The connection between the two is starting to fade and at every turn he is leaving her alone, missing events, and constantly working.
She has stayed true to him despite her attraction to her cover model, Caleb and his obvious attraction to her.
What happens when enough is enough and Sawyer can’t continue on in her relationship they way she has been? Does she give into the desire she has for Caleb?
This book is Sawyer’s story. The way it happened. The way it needed to happen. Though it is not a long story, it kept me smiling. Caleb and his innuendos (or outright dirty mouth) just kept me on my toes. Never knowing what he was going to say or do next and what would be the ultimate outcome of the little triangle that Sawyer has gotten herself into… it is a fun, flirtatious, and oh-so-steamy little read. It is a look to the other side of the computer, told from the author’s perspective and is unlike anything I have read before. I really enjoyed reading a romance story told by an author about an author!
I am a mommy of two, wife to an amazing man, and full-time employee. Life is crazy and busy! I started writing again during a darker time in my life in a group write in a Facebook group. They brought back my passion for writing that I haven’t felt since high school and helped me through hard times.
Starting this process was tedious and nerve-wracking, but my amazing ladies and my fabulous husband have inspired me to take my love for writing to the next step.
My current books are Have I Told You, I Won’t Give Up on You, A Very Merry Black Hollywood Christmas, and Give Me All of You, all part of the Black Hollywood Series.
Behind the Computer is a new standalone that is not part of the BH series. It’s a step outside of my comfort zone, but the story hit me like a ton of bricks so I went with it.
Coming 2016, One in a Million. New Characters, New story, Standalone! More information coming soon.
