New Release & Review: Appealed (The Legal Briefs Series #3) by Emma Chase

Appealed Emma Chase

When Brent Mason looks at Kennedy Randolph, he doesn’t see the awkward, sweet girl who grew up next door. He sees a self-assured, stunning woman…who wants to crush the most intimate – and prized – parts of his anatomy beneath the heels of her Christian Louboutins.

Brent has never let the loss of his leg in a childhood accident affect his ability to lead a fulfilling life. He sets high goals–and then he reaches them.

And now he has his sights set on Kennedy.
When Kennedy looks at Brent Mason, all she sees is the selfish, Abercrombie & Fitch catalogue-worthy teenager who humiliated her in high school to join the popular crowd. A crowd that made those years a living hell.

She’s not a lovesick social outcast anymore – she’s a DC prosecutor with a long winning streak behind her. Brent is the opposing attorney in her next case and she thinks it’s time to put him through a little hell of his own.

But things aren’t exactly working out that way.

Because every fiery exchange has her wondering if he’s as passionate in the bedroom as he is in the courtroom. Each argument and objection only makes him want her more. In the end, Brent and Kennedy may just find themselves in love…or in contempt of court.

APPEALED is a sexy, humorous romance about first crushes, second chances and the final verdict of the heart.

Appealed is humor, pop culture, romance and pure bliss! Of course it wouldn’t be a great story without a character doing something stupid to try and screw things up… but the way Emma Chase writes this, you can’t help but love them all, and every one of their flaws.

Brent Mason is a bachelor. A bachelor that doesn’t seem to have any issues finding a wife for the night. But what he has an issue with is letting go of “the one.” She has been in his mind, his heart and his thoughts for so many years. But she left all those years ago and nothing has been the same since. He doesn’t know why she left and he doesn’t know why she broke his heart but it is what it is and he has lived with the unknown every day. That is until that very moment.

The moment when he sees the beautiful woman in the red dress across the way. But when he goes over to start talking to her, she immediately is on the defensive and starts slinging insults at him right and left. What the hell??? That’s when the pieces start to fall in place.

But there are bigger things to worry about right now. Brent has a case he is working on and the prosecution won’t return his phone calls. He just wants to settle the case and be done with it. But the prosecution has other plans and has no intention of making a deal to save this one bad seed.

That’s when it all starts falling in place… the girl he loved from a very young age that got away comes back to town and she is beautiful and fierce and relentless. She knows what she wants and Brent Mason is not part of the plan. Kennedy begins a battle in the courtroom and the sexual tension is so off the charts between these two attorneys, even the judge is shocked. But in a twisted bit of fate, the judge forces them to confront whatever it is that is causing problems in the courtroom.

The past is a big dangerous obstacle in any relationship. The past can make or destroy a relationship and if you can overcome the bad, the good is just that much sweeter. This book took every bad thing from the past, made the characters face it head on.

I have to say, though I admire Brent Mason and his amazing sense of humor, I loved his strength and his willingness to make it right. No matter who was at fault, he wanted to fix it and never let go of the woman he has loved forever. But is he wiling to stand by her side at any cost? No matter what? Well…

Kennedy didn’t have the easiest time in school, not because she wasn’t smart or because she wasn’t pretty, but because she was all he wanted and even his girlfriend knew it. The would stop at nothing to torment her and make her feel like she would never be good enough, but now… she’s strength, beauty and power. She can have it all, but can she have it all and him too? Does she want to take that chance?

Sparks fly, things get heated, and humor abounds. No, I am not going to tell you want happens. But I will tell you this is a romantic tale that will leave your heart feeling full and content. The writing, the humor and all of the pop culture mixed in, you can’t help but love every page written. If I could climb in this book and hang out with these characters, I would be in heaven. Not because they are perfect, but because the are perfect together and my kind of people.

There are so many lines in this book that I just wrapped my heart around. The smart and sassy lines that you are unable to forget, ever. I love Emma Chase’s writing. It just speaks to me. Because I am one of those smart ass people who uses ridiculous pop culture references all the time. It’s just who I am and it makes this book so much more than just another romantic tale and a must read again book in my world.
