3 Breaths blog tour banner

Slumped on the floor of the New York City subway, I watched my fiancée take her final 3 breaths.

In that moment, everything changed.

The Krane Hensley I’d become because of Zoë vanished.

My life instantly shattered to pieces.

Now, I live on a mission to survive each day and it’s become my greatest struggle.

I take my vengeance out in the cage, fighting anyone and everyone that will stand up to me. It gives me fleeting relief, but soon the pain crashes back down around me. So I’ve turned to Ivy, my salvation from the agony that is my life.

The problem? Ivy is Zoë’s sister.

Can Ivy and I move past the heartache that connects us to find a future together?

Review

I spent a good portion of this book holding my breath. It took a lot more than three to calm me down.

Krane is headed down a path of destruction. He doesn’t know how to function, he doesn’t know how to live. The weight of losing his precious Zoe has consumed him to the point where he is hardly recognizable. He is struggling through the day by day just to make it. Fighting to keep paying the bills and struggling to survive everything else.

His one solace through the entire tragedy has been Ivy. Ivy has been his rock, even when she felt like she was crumbling. Ivy has been his calm even when the storm was at it’s most intense within herself. But she has been everything to Krane in dealing with the loss of Zoe.

Ivy is fighting her own battle with the same loss. Zoe wasn’t just her friend, she was her sister. But the only thing keeping her going and getting her through the rough spots has been Krane. They understand the pain because they are both feeling it. The understand the hurt, the heartache and they both know how to talk one another through the worst of spots.

The big question is can they together, find a way to struggle through the loss of Zoe and come out victors in the battle without destroying one another in the process?

This is an emotionally charged book from the very beginning. My heart broke over and over again for Krane and the one person he needed to make it through was always there for him. But he knew in his state there was no way he could ever be good enough for her. He could never be what she needed. He was broken. He couldn’t take care of her when he was so damaged himself.

But as Zoe always told them, everything happens for a reason. Together they could fight for everything and still be nothing or they fight for one another and wind up with everything.

I am not big on fighter books, but there was something endearing about Krane that I just couldn’t look away. Next to all of his greif, his conscious took center stage. He was a gentleman everywhere but in the cage and Ivy was his strength through it all. I really was enthralled with the writing and I was really torn with some of the decisions in the book, but it was a great read and I would happily recommend.
